Playing the Gears of war 3 Beta

When Gears of War 3 got delayed from April this year to September, Microsoft seemed to be the culprit behind the move. Everything we've seen from the game so far suggested that it was pretty close to being finished. Cliff Blezinski and his crew even played a level of the game on stage at last years Electronic Entertainment Expo, and it looked spectacular back then. While Microsoft would never come out and say they delayed Gears of War because there's no Halo coming out this year, the fact that Gears 3 got delayed to the exact time period that every Halo game prior has released so far seems to suggest that's exactly why.

But Epic thankfully took the extra time to deliver a beta to all the fans and it seems to be a complete success. The beta has four levels and it's own achievement system that allows gamers to unlock characters, skins for their weapons, and even unique executions based on how many matches they play. The levels look great and the gameplay works better than either the first or second games in the series. There are some new weapons, the characters have some minor new moves, and the new maps for the most part are all pretty good. The matchmaking is more on par with CoD and Halo than ever and that's essentially the most important part of the beta.

There's already plenty of reason to be excited for Gears of War 3, and if you haven't gone out and spent the 5 dollars on a pre-order for it, you should. The content you get for such a small investment is well worth it.
